Live,this Vaikunta Ekadahi....

Sri:
Srimate ramanujaya nama:

Priya arangan adiyar,

WHEN OUR KIDS DO WELL….
The greatest joy a Couple have is seeing their toddlers bring out their creative juices and display it for the admiration of all. A small picture drawn by her kid gives pleasure to the mother far exceeding the sum collection of the ornaments purchased by her spouse! Similar is the joy of the father.

Our Gurukulam children did not have the baghyam of being groomed by their parents to enable them to exhibit their creative energies. By the Grace of Namperumal & Nachiar, our Gurukulam has left no stones unturned to bring out the best in them. Religious studies, general academics, instrumental music, organizing skills, art-works and many such areas have been opened up to them for their exploration. Today, we are happy to communicate to you that the children of the Gurukulam are brimming with creative energy and are absolutely not behind other children.

The latest in these endeavours is the

MONTHLY MAGAZINE called “KAINKARYAM” .The children have:
  •   Written all the articles from their experiences
  •   Chosen an editor among themselves
  •   Designed the magazine
 Inline image 2
The 2nd issue of the magazine is in the link.
The children have written these not for their parents, but for you to view.
They are eagerly awaiting your comments!

A humble request:

  • The magazine is for free distribution.

  • Supporting the printing of this magazine will enable us to publish next issues.

  • Those eager to encourage these children to pen down their thoughts and share their experiences are requested to communicate to us.
  • You can also volunteer to distribute these magazines at the place of your residence.
Phone : 09150403470 ; email : srimaantrut@gmail.com

“The role of a writer is not to say what we can all say, but what we are unable to say. The children have turned into writers now. Support them!”

Krishna Kainkaryam

Sri:
Srimathe Ramanujaya Nama:

Kainkaryam is the highest wealth of a devotee. A devotee awaits the opportunity to engage in service. Performing service is not an artificial imposition on any person. A deep reflection upon the scriptures would reveal that to serve is natural. In fact, we are ever in service of someone or something. Sometimes, we think we are in control of other objects which serve our purpose. But, a little experience and insight would reveal that, to the contrary, we are under the control of these lures. When this analysis proceeds in this direction, we will end up understanding that we and our faculties find purity of purpose only in service of the Lord. That is the natural state of all souls and matter; everything else is confusion.

The great seer Nārada, who was enlightened in all scriptures, realized that śeṣatvam or service is the true nature of the soul. The Bhāgavata Purāṇa says that Devarṣi Nārada, who had no desires otherwise, was haunted by one desire. It might surprise us that such a sage would be desirous of something. The scripture says, “nāradaḥ kṛṣṇopāsanalālasaḥ” - Nārada was ardently desirous of serving Krishna.

Here the word ‘upāsana’ does not mean passive devotion or meditation. It means service. This can be understood by noting that the Purāṇic verse says “abhīkṣṇaṃ dvāravatyām avātsīt”. Seer Nārada used to stay frequently in Dvāraka as he was desirous of serving the Lord. It is only to serve that one needs to be present close to the recipient of service (śeṣi). Passive forms of devotion or meditation do not demand intimate physical presence such as that between Lakṣmaṇa and Rāma. Is it not this intimately close presence that was referred by Āzhvār as ‘uḍanāy manni’! Hence, here upāsana means service. No less a seer than Nārada, who has been celebrated in Sri Ramayana as tapaḥ-svādhyāya-nirataḥ, vāgvidāmvaraḥ and munipuṅgavaḥ, bore great interest in serving Krishna after all his study, penance and meditation.

This message is reinforced by Śukācārya, who is himself a great devotee of the Lord. He asks Emperor Parīkṣit, “Rājan! ko nu indriyavān mukundacaraṇāmbujaṃ na bhajet?” Which person, O King,  possessed of the faculties (of senses and body), does not engage in kainkaryam at the lotus feet of Mukunda? The word ‘indriyavān’ indicates that the faculties of our body are provided for the purpose of engaging in service of the Lord.

Excited to serve  Krishna, aren’t we?

Though the vibhavāvatāra of Krishna is over several hundreds of years ago, He continues to present Himself out of grace in numerous shrines through the mode of Arcāvatāra. He creates the opportunity for people of all times to serve Him in this image form.

The lore tells us that the great devotee Akrūra cherished the time when he went to fetch Lord Krishna in a chariot car. The "Thanga chapara vaahanam" was restaged on the occasion of Sri Jayanthi by the students of Srimaan Bhattar Gurukulam. The students relived the service of the Lord by decorating Him beautifully and celebrating
Sri Krishna jayanti
. The procession went through the uthira and chiththira veethis of Periya Perumal.

The lovely link...

Sri:
Srimate ramanujaya nama:
Priya arangan adiyar,
A Prapanna (one who unswervingly aims to attain salvation), after his pancha samskaara (the ritual of being recognized as a prapanna by a Realized soul), should pass his time till attainment of  paramapadha, by doing Bhagawath, Bhaagavatha, Acharya kainkaryam. Though Kainkaryam is divided into 3 types, all of them are ultimately meant to appease the Supreme God since doing Kainkaryam to Bhaagavatha  or acharya is also for the Preethi of the Lord. Kainkaryam to the Bhagawan in a direct manner has certain restrictions. Not everyone can avail the same. But Kainkaryam to His adiyars and one’s acharyan has no strings attached whatsoever.
A few souls are very fortunate to be eligible for direct Kainkaryam of Perumal. But mere eligibility need not make a person a devoted kainkaryasri. One has to “Perform” kainkaryam. Kainkaryam to the Lord at temples is not an easy affair. It requires enormous amount of physical and mental strength. Above all, absolute love and commitment towards the Lord is a pre-requisite.
Sri M.M Srinivasan Swamy of Melkote, born in 1952 is one such devoted kainkaryaparar. Born into Mudumbai vamsam, he mastered the Divya-Prabandham from his father (who was a great scholar in Sanskrit and then Principal of the acclaimed Melkote Sanskrit University; a wonderful master of the Divya Prabandhams too). His youth was spent in attending the temple kainkaryams as well as spending time at the Revenue Department for Jeevanam. He recently joined the Adhyapaka kainkaryam (Divya Prabandha recitation) at Melkote temple. On normal days, he spends 3 hours at the temple. During utsava times, which is more frequent than normal days, he spend 8-10 hours at the temple. This swamy was recently honoured by our Trust. Let us Pray Lord  Thirunaranan to give him complete strength in the vocal cord to carry out such kainkaryam!
The lesson we should learn from this swamy is that we need to select a kainkaryam which is Pleasurable to Bhagawan and perform it incessantly. Kainkaryam is the only act which implies that we still remember the day of our Pancha Samskaaram and the vow to serve the Lord! Remember the link.

Celebration of victory!!

Sri:
Srimate Ramanujaya nama:

Priya arangan adiyar,

Vijayadasami is an important festival celebrated by people across the whole country. It is special because only on this  day Sri Rama killed Ravana at Lanka and rescued Sita Devi. It is also learnt from Mahabaratha that Pandavas completed their agyathavasam (living incognito) on this day and gathered their weapons and came out of their hideout. At Srirangam and many other divya desams, on Vijayadasami day, Emprumaan would ride on the kuthirai vahanam and would shoot arrows at Vannimaram to signify his victory over adharmikas in order to save the dharmikas (click the link to see our Namperumal on vijayadasami day:https://plus.google.com/photos/117130310845842769959/albums/5934572430334523665?authkey=COvciO6qkYT5ZA). This day is very clearly proved to be auspicious for beginning new studies/activities.

On the auspicious day of Vijayadasami, which fell on 4th October 2014 a regalia took place at Acharyah - School for Leaders. Our vidhyarthis of Srimaan Bhattar Gurukulam took the responsibility of making this aesthetic event a grand success. Our Gurukulam vidyarthis planned, prepared and executed each and everything needed for the function. They enthusiastically performed vidhyaramba homam. Since the children of the gurukulam are budding adiyars and  expect nothing and are purely performing for the growth of Acharyah children, the Lord of Srirangam was extremely. Moreover, punctuality, precision, devotion and dedication of the boys were stupendous. Chanting of the mantras vibrated throughout the campus. That was a great exhibition of the boys' proficiency in Sri Pancharatra Agamam ! In addition to that they also did aksharabyasam for the newly joined tiny tots of Acharyah. Parents, members of the staff and children of aacharyah took part in the event with great enthusiasm and got the blessings of Namperumal and Sriranga Nachiyar being showered on them. The holy function came to an end with the distribution of prasadham. Let the sacred frequency stay with all of us, including divine supporters of our Trust like yourselves, for ever.

Bring "Deepavali joy" to 800 children...

Sri:
Srimate Ramanujaya nama:

Priya arangan adiyar,

Deepavali is an occasion when our mind is filled with serene feelings and our mouths with savories. Beyond all this, it is the warmth and love of the family that lightens our heart. The love of the parents and spouse and the glitter in the eyes of our children is our true Deepavali. The moments with them are what we cherish and always yearn for. When it comes to Namperumal and Srirenganachiar, it is the happiness of their adiyars that kindles their happiness and gives them satisfaction. And more than the grown adiyars like us, their pleasure is manifold increased if children are happy and exuberant during the festivities.

At Srimaan Trust, as Servants in the execution of the Divine Couples’ wishes, we celebrate Deepavalilighting up the faces of the children by preparing savories and distributing it to them. In addition, we also plan to honour the Acharya Purushas and the service-providers (Kainkaryaparas) of Srirangam temple by distributing the savories to them. To us the sparkle of happiness in the faces and hearts of the children and the bhagavathas is far more joyous than lighting up the sky with crackers.

This year, the Trust has planned to prepare savories at SriKooratazhwan sannidhi, Srirangam temple, and distribute to the following :

Recipients
Number   (approx.)
Acharya Purushas
20
Archakas of Srirangam temple
25
Sripaadam thangigal of Srirangam temple
30
Every staff of Srirangam temple
50
Our Gurukulam (SBG) children
22
Srimaan Bhattar Kuzham children
150
Acharyah school children
70
South Ranga School children
350
Aranganayaki school
300
Total
1000

The following would be the prasadams that will be prepared, offered to Lord Narasimha and Sri Kooratazhwan and distributed to the above adiyars :

200 kg of mixture
1000 Mysore paahu
750 Jaangri

For the above, our actual cost is as follows :

Labour
Rs.15,000
Provisions
Rs.45,000
Total
Rs.60,000

It is only on such occasions that we can feel the happiness that pervades the heart of children and Bhagavathas. On such occasions, we are also reminded that “Mothering can be shared by several people”.It would be a pleasure to watch the mere scene of children tearing open the pack of sweets and thrusting them into their mouths. If this happens due to our humble contribution, the pleasure will double just as a mother watching her children devour her hand made delicacies.

And our Divine Parents would be very happy with the way we have celebrate the most celebrated festival of our Nation. Hence, we put before you to make your contributions to this Divine and of course, very sweet cause. As per the following words of a famous philosopher “it is not enough to be compassionate; you must act”, let us put to action the compassion within us.

The right vision...

Sri:
Srimate ramanujaya nama:

Priya arangan adiyar,

Any organization relies on having the right vision to provide guidance and to offer scope for course correction.  The vision for the upcoming future is usually the first step in the planning process.  The vision usually provides the overall purpose for the activity.  It is based on the core values of the individuals or the organization.  There is an adage about missing the forest for the trees.  Having the right vision helps one to keep focus of the big picture while being dragged into various short term goals that consume one's attention.

Having a vision permits the individual to make sure that one's activities finally add up to the larger purpose.  When the activities do not add to the larger purpose, it is worth taking stock if these activities only add zero to the total sum or they go to the extent of subtracting from the benefits.

This leads us to the conclusion that the definition of the vision must be accompanied by the definition of a set of activities that are likely to advance towards the realization of the vision.  This would enable us to avoid performing an estimation of benefits or losses for every activity to understand the impact of the activity on the final goal.

The system of Bhagavad Ramanuja is a harmonious synthesis of philosophy and religion.  In the philosophy, the ingredients of the system are identified.  This leads to the definition of the big picture and the general course to be adopted.  The religious part caters to the actual particulars that lead to the actualization of the vision gained through philosophy - the methods, mindsets and practices that have the potential to advance the determined vision.  It is no wonder that the ancient philosophical systems of our nation were called darsanas (or visions).

The various activities of Srimaan Trust contribute in adding to the grand total. To achieve this result, the Trust needs to take into account different aspects and challenges that lie in its path and ensure that we do not miss on any parameter that leads to the success of the vision.

This implies that in addition to spiritual progress, it is also necessary to take into account the physical well being of our students and volunteers. This involves guaranteeing that they have access to medical facilities and are well equipped to take advantage of various programmes of the Trust.

In tune with this objective, Srimaan Trust facilitated the testing of volunteers for eye ailments.  Five volunteers were found to require optical assistance for vision. They received spectacles from the Trust, presented by Sri U Ve Parasara Azhagiya Singa Bhattar Svami. The volunteers expressed great happiness at receiving this aid. They felt this service would help them serve the needy adiyars with greater care.
